Video Tutorials Logging In as an Instructor Configuring Your Course Registering Students Tracking tudent Progress FAQs Registering My students are not receiving an email to confirm their registration. Email filtering systems often will categorize this activation email as "spam". Ensure that the message has not been redirected into a junk folder or other spam directory. Alternatively, please ensure the students are using a valid and active email address. This is required to register their account. Students do not have access to email accounts while at school. Students may register using a Virtual Business specific account. By clicking the checkbox under the email address field the software will automatically generate a username for the student to use. I do not receive an activation email for students accounts. We have removed this step in a recent update. The students may log in at any time without activation once registered. This includes both personal email address accounts and Virtual Business accounts. I’m receiving an error message "Invalid Course Key." Ensure the course key is being typed correctly, this can be verified from the Instructors administration page. If this key is correct, please verify the website location is https:// vb.knowledgematters.com. Our ProSim and VB Products are separate simulations. Logging In Receiving error message stating "The email address does not exist in our records." Please verify the website location is https://vb.knowledgematters.com. Our ProSim and VB Products are separate simulations. If the email is still not accepted, verify there are no spaces in the email address field. Students password is no longer being accepted. Verify the password is being typed with attention to spaces and case sensitivity. You may try typing the password in a document or area that is not covered by asterisks to verify this. The students may also choose the "Forgot your password?" link to reset their password. Alternatively, instructors may reset a student's password from the "View Student Progress" menu. Click on the name of the student to access all of the features. Running the simulation The answers for the question do not match up with my simulation. This is generally caused by one or more previous steps being overlooked. Please verify each step is completed in order to give an accurate answer for each question. Changes that I make in the simulation are not saved. After you make the changes, click on the "Ok" button rather than cancel or the "x" at the top. No matter how much food I buy, it disappears in a day or two in my simulation on Virtual Business - Personal Finance 2.0 This is caused by the electricity bill being overlooked or not paid. This causes the food to spoil. The simulation will not move faster even after clicking the "faster" button. This problem has occurred in rare instances while using Google Chrome. If updating to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, and the latest version of Google Chrome does not fix this issue, please use another browser. Students are unable to save any changes. Once the student has submitted their work as final, they will no longer be able to save changes or reset their lesson. If you would like to give the student a second chance ,you can reset their lesson from the "View Student Progress" page. Technical Details Simulation cannot save and I’m getting error "2032." Error 2032 is a "stream error." This error indicates a network connectivity issue to our servers. Please check that you have a consistent Internet connection and that our servers are not blocked. Please unblock the following:
Please make sure you’re using an up to date Internet browser. This problem is very common if Internet Explorer 8 or greater is not installed. Also, please make sure that the following web addresses are allowed connection.
Only a blue screen displays once I open the simulation. If Adobe Flash player is not installed, you will only see the background color of the webpage. Locally or on a network? The software may be installed locally or on a network. To install the software on a network, simply perform a server installation. Once this is complete, place a shortcut on the client’s machine that links to the network installed executable. This may require mapping a network drive or changing user network permissions. Do you have Mac versions? We currently offer two Mac compatible simulations. These are Virtual Business - Restaurant 1.0 and Virtual Business - Personal Finance 2.0. For our other simulations, there are educators that are running Virtual Business on Macintosh computers using third party products such as Virtual Machine or other virtualization technology. Running the Simulations In Virtual Business - Personal Finance 1.0, I get an error when filing my tax return after selling a mutual fund. This occurs only if you try to sell a fund of which you own zero shares. This problem has been fixed in an update. In Virtual Business - Retailing, my students are ordering baby formula and none is appearing on the shelves. Have the students do a Physical Inventory from the Actions menu. It is likely that a lot of baby formula has been shoplifted. The automatic ordering system doesn't know the units are gone, so it doesn't order more. The physical inventory will correct this. To see how much was stolen, click the Products button and select Stolen Goods. Is a student able to save his/her work? If so, where do they save it? Yes. They save it to the directory of your choice, like they would with a Word document. Multiplayer I'm trying to set up a multiplayer session and don't know what my computer's name is? To find the name of the computer that you will designate as the host: - Windows 8: Mouse over the bottom right corner of the screen, click on Settings, select PC Info - Windows 7: Right click Computer, select Properties. - Windows XP: Right click My Computer, select Properties. Select the Computer Name tab. - Windows 2000: Right click My Computer, select Properties. Select the Network Identification tab. - Windows 98: Right click Network Neighborhood, select Properties. Select the Identification tab. If you are running a non-Windows network operating system, identifying the computer may be slightly different from the above instructions. The instructor can then follow the directions under Multiplayer Competitions in the Instructor's Manual to run a multiplayer session. How many students/teams can join a multiplayer session? - 6 for Virtual Business - Retailing 3.0 - 8 for Virtual Business - Sports 1.0 - unlimited for Virtual Business - Management 2.0 Can I save a multiplayer session and restart it another time? Yes. The host (generally the teacher) is the only one who can save a multiplayer sim. When you restart Virtual Business and open the saved sim, the program automatically knows it's a multiplayer sim and asks for a session name. This can be the same name you used previously or different; just let the students know what it is so they can join in. Can the student set the stop and start time of the simulation? Students may control the stop date of the simulation by using the Run To feature. Some students are making a profit. Others are losing money. Is there a way for me to tell what they did? Yes, the Actions Journal under the Reports menu contains a detailed list of every action they took. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or greater installed. How do I allow multiplayer with Windows firewall on? To allow Virtual Business to run in multiplayer mode with the Windows Firewall on: Click on the Start Menu. Select Control Panel and then choose Windows Firewall. Select the Exceptions Tab. Click the Add Program button. Select all Virtual Business programs. Click OK. |
