DECA Virtual Business Challenge – Registration Has Begun

Registration for this year’s DECA Virtual Business Challenge has begun!

High school students – registered DECA members – compete against each other to best manage their virtual businesses. After 2 rounds of competitions (competition dates are below), the leading competitors will face off at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (April 21-24, 2018) in Atlanta, GA.

The DECA Virtual Business Challenge is open to all DECA high school members at no cost. If a DECA student’s advisor or teacher is not currently using a Knowledge Matters’ business simulation, students CAN still participate in the challenge at no cost.

Check out this video for all the details to register for this year’s DECA Virtual Business Challenge.

DECA Virtual Business Challenge competitors can register to compete individually or as a team of up to 3 members. The seven tracks of the DECA Virtual Business Challenge include: Fashion, Accounting, Hotel, Personal Finance, Restaurant, Retailing and Sports & Entertainment. Competitors can compete in any or all of the tracks during the challenge.

After the conclusion of the second round of the DECA Virtual Business Challenge, the teams that qualify to compete in the live event at DECA’s International Career Development Conference will be listed on the VBC rankings page.

New this year:

This year there are several changes to the annual DECA VBC.

New online competition dates: The length of the online VBC rounds has been shortened. The two rounds are October 24, 2017, 10:00 a.m. ET – November 3, 2017, 5:00 p.m. ET and January 9, 2018, 10:00 a.m. ET – January 19, 2018, 5:00 p.m. ET.

Greater access to the full simulation: In previous years’ VBCs, the challenges utilized only select functions from each Virtual Business simulation. This year competitors will have access to almost the complete functionality of every simulation – offering a much more challenging and in-depth experience for competitors.

Virtual Business – Fashion: VB Fashion, the latest Virtual Business simulation, was released a year ago for high school classrooms. This year VB Fashion will be added to the DECA VBC competition. Students can compete to build the most profitable fashion business.
